I am passionate about empowering others to overcome anxiety, reconnect with themselves, and create meaningful, lasting change. My practice is currently accepting new clients that reside in South Carolina for in-person and virtual therapy sessions. Hello, welcome! I am Shawnte, founder and practicing clinician at Cultivating Calm Holistic Therapy.

I specialize in treating anxiety, with emphasis on stressors derived from attachment and relational traumas. I help people identify and make changes to unhelpful patterns of behavior and habits that are getting in the way, while also supporting identity-related concerns and clarifying personal values. In addition to these focus areas, I work with clients who struggle with adjustment, assertiveness, boundaries, communication skills, self-esteem, and social skills.

Anxiety and Stress Management • Navigating Life Transitions • Racial Identity and Cultural Dynamics • Young Adulthood (18-25) • Substance Use • Family Trauma and Dysfunction

Areas of Expertise

I believe that the therapeutic relationship is a collaborative effort, and I affirm that my clients are the experts of their lives. I prioritize teamwork and autonomy when utilizing my professional expertise to assist client journeys.  My approach to treatment embraces the whole person, with emphasis on the mind-body connection and neuroscience. I strive to be my authentic self (which often ranges from lighthearted and quirky to passionately invested and profoundly empathetic) in hopes that this will encourage transparency and inspire others to do the same.

Therapeutic Approach

My distinctive counseling process utilizes Motivational Interviewing (MI) to explore opportunities for change and aid clients in goal-setting, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to identify, challenge, and redirect unhelpful patterns and beliefs, and Brainspotting to release unresolved emotions and traumas.
